Khwaab-e-Gulaab Sasva: Spiced Rose, Oud and Leather

When developing Khwaab-e-Gulaab, also presented by Sasva as Rêverie de la Rose, the atmosphere of Indian festivals and rituals served as the central inspiration. Sasva describes the fragrance as an olfactory journey into timeless celebrations of abundance and joy, placing the noble rose at the heart of the composition. The rose is treated not simply as a floral note, but as a symbol of devotion, love and spiritual grandeur, surrounded by lotus and jasmine and contrasted with spices, woods, amber and leather.

The concept is built around a dreamlike Gulaab — rose — bouquet, combining the richness of rose petals with flowers traditionally associated with celebration. Instead of creating a purely romantic rose perfume, Sasva gives the composition a darker and more substantial foundation through oud, cedarwood, leather and dry amber, while saffron, cardamom and cinnamon introduce warmth and opulence from the opening.

 

Olfactory Notes

Upon the first spray, Saffron, Cardamom and Cinnamon form a distinctly warm and spicy opening. Saffron contributes an opulent, slightly leathery facet, while cardamom brings aromatic freshness and cinnamon reinforces the composition's warm character. Together, they establish the fragrance's richly spiced character before the floral heart develops.

As it moves into the heart, Rose becomes the principal focus. It is surrounded by Jasmine and Lotus, creating the celebratory floral bouquet central to Sasva's concept. Cedarwood and Oud add woody depth underneath the flowers, preventing the rose from becoming overly delicate and giving the composition a darker, more substantial structure.

Finally, Leather, Dry Amber and Musk form the base. Leather reinforces the darker character introduced by oud, while dry amber brings warmth and musk softens the composition as it settles on the skin. The result is a rose fragrance framed by spice, woods and leather rather than a conventional soft floral interpretation.

My favorite Almond Perfume!

I am not a huge fan of almond-centered fragrances. BUT - I have tried quite a few over the years and I am always on the hunt for one that I will actually enjoy...And I found that in Zuccarata by Narcisse Taormina! This is my favorite almond perfume because it smells like the best almond cookies or cakes you can imagine! Almondy but slightly sweet, doughy with a touch of cinnamon - It is delicious!
