The first thing I noticed about this Italian niche house is how strongly the fragrances seem connected to water, sunlight, fruit, cocktails, and those long summer evenings when you stop checking the time.
But Salum is not simply making fresh marine perfumes.
That would be far too easy.
Instead, the brand mixes salt water with dates, honey, vanilla, tropical fruit, champagne, caviar, rum, flowers, and creamy woods.
Some combinations sound almost strange when you read the notes.
Then you smell them.
And suddenly they make sense.
These five fragrances showed me exactly why Salum is worth paying attention to.

I love summer perfumes, but I get bored very quickly when everything becomes citrus, musk, and generic blue freshness.
Salum takes a different route.
There is almost always something familiar in the fragrances, but the brand adds one detail that completely changes the mood.
A marine perfume suddenly becomes sweet with dates and honey.
Vanilla gets caught in tropical rain.
Champagne meets caviar.
Mango becomes salty.

That contrast is what makes the collection feel interesting.
The fragrances still smell wearable, but none of them feels completely obvious.
Delicious Bay Smells Like a Golden Sunset Over Salt Water
Delicious Bay
Delicious Bay was the first fragrance that made me understand the Salum style.
It was created in 2023 by Luca Maffei and takes inspiration from a sunset in Dubai.
The opening is fresh and aquatic, with calone, bergamot, and violet creating that immediate sensation of salty air and open water.
But then something much warmer starts appearing.
Dates.
Honey.
Saffron.
Vanilla.
Suddenly, this is no longer a simple marine fragrance.
The sweetness becomes rich and golden, while pecan, sandalwood, amber, and patchouli bring more depth underneath.
What I find fascinating is that the salty character never completely disappears.
You continue getting that contrast between the sea and something almost edible.
It makes me think about sitting close to the water as the sun goes down, with warm air on the skin and a plate of dates and honey nearby.
Delicious Bay is sweet, but the marine notes stop it from becoming heavy.
It is probably one of the most unusual fragrances here.
Vanilla Monsoon Made Vanilla Interesting Again

I own and smell so many vanilla fragrances that it takes a lot for another one to surprise me.
Vanilla Monsoon did.
Created in 2024 by Sofia Bardelli, this fragrance takes vanilla and places it inside wet tropical air.
The opening has an aquatic feeling with orange and cardamom.
Then vanilla flower, jasmine, peach, cocoa, and watery notes begin to appear.
It is not the thick dessert vanilla I expected.
There is moisture around it.
Something green.
Something earthy.
Almost like the smell of warm ground after heavy rain.
The cocoa adds softness without turning the fragrance into chocolate, while benzoin and patchouli give the base more warmth.
What I love most is the contrast.
Vanilla normally makes me think of warmth, blankets, desserts, and winter.
Here it feels humid and alive.
I would absolutely recommend Vanilla Monsoon to someone who loves vanilla but has reached the point where most vanilla perfumes start smelling too similar.
This one gives the note a completely different environment.
Caviar Rosé Is Weird Enough to Keep Me Interested
Caviar Rosé
Champagne and caviar in perfume form sounds either brilliant or completely ridiculous.
Thankfully, Caviar Rosé lands much closer to brilliant.
The opening immediately has a sparkling quality.
Peach champagne, pink pepper, dragon fruit, and elemi create something bright, juicy, and almost fizzy.
Then the caviar accord appears.
That is where things become much harder to describe.
There is a slightly salty, unusual character beside osmanthus and jasmine sambac.
It does not smell aggressively marine.
Instead, it gives the fragrance an abstract savory quality that keeps the peach and champagne from becoming too pretty.
Musk, caramel, patchouli, and tonka bean make the base softer and warmer.
This is probably not the fragrance I would recommend to someone who wants the safest possible compliment getter.
But that is exactly why I like it.
Caviar Rosé feels creative.
It makes you stop and think about what you are smelling.
I would wear it during warm weather, especially somewhere social where I wanted my perfume to start a conversation.
Tropylang Is the Tropical Perfume I Actually Want to Wear

Tropical fragrances are everywhere right now.
Mango.
Passion fruit.
Coconut.
Pineapple.
Sometimes it starts to feel like every new summer release is chasing the same vacation.
Tropylang feels different enough to escape that problem.
It opens with mango, passion fruit, and cinnamon.
The fruit is immediately noticeable, but then ylang ylang begins to soften everything.
Salted caramel, salt, and labdanum create a strange balance between sweetness and sea air.
The base adds solar notes, marine notes, musk, cashmere wood, ambergris, vetiver, and saffron.
What I like is that the fragrance never becomes pure tropical juice.
The ylang ylang gives it creaminess and shape.
Salt keeps it interesting.
The warmer base adds depth.
It still feels fun and sunny, but there is more structure behind it.
Tropylang is also very easy for me to imagine on anyone.
It feels genuinely unisex.
I would wear this during the day, on vacation, beside the sea, or simply whenever I wanted to create that feeling without leaving home.
Blue Mai Tai Is Basically a Frozen Cocktail on Skin

This might be the most immediately fun fragrance of the five.
Blue Mai Tai smells exactly like its name suggests.
Rum.
Ice.
Citrus.
Sweet almond.
Sea air.
The opening combines light rum and dark rum with an icy accord.
Then orange curaçao, lime, and davana create a bright cocktail effect.
The base is where things become creamier.
Orgeat syrup, almond milk, styrax, and patchouli give the fragrance a soft, slightly sweet finish.
I could almost picture condensation running down the side of a cold glass when I smelled it.
That icy effect is what makes the fragrance work for me.
Without it, the rum and almond could easily become too rich for summer.
Instead, everything feels chilled.
It is boozy, but still refreshing.
Sweet, but still airy.
Blue Mai Tai is one of those fragrances that instantly creates a scene in my head.
A beach bar.
Late afternoon.
Wet hair.
Bare feet.
A cold cocktail arriving at the table.
I would choose this when I wanted summer to feel fun again.
Which Salum Perfume Would I Choose First?
If I wanted something unusual and sensual, I would choose Delicious Bay.
If I wanted vanilla without smelling like everyone else, Vanilla Monsoon would be my pick.
For something artistic and slightly strange, I would go with Caviar Rosé.
For tropical fruit and easy summer wear, Tropylang is probably the safest recommendation.
And for pure vacation energy, Blue Mai Tai wins.
Another thing I appreciate is performance.
All five are reported to last around eight hours or more, which matters because summer fragrances often disappear far too quickly.
These do not feel temporary.
They stay with you.
Why Salum Parfums Stayed in My Head
Salum made me realize that summer perfume does not need to smell clean and simple.
It can be salty and sweet.
Creamy and aquatic.
Fruity and woody.
Strange and still completely wearable.
That is what makes this collection exciting for me.
Delicious Bay gives me sunset.
Vanilla Monsoon gives me rain.
Caviar Rosé gives me celebration.
Tropylang gives me tropical heat.
Blue Mai Tai gives me a cocktail beside the sea.

And after smelling them, I honestly just want summer to last a little longer.
