Vertus Narcos'is: The Strange Green Addiction I Couldn't Ignore

1 nov 2026

Some fragrances are easy to understand from the first spray. They smell pleasant, familiar, and immediately tell you what kind of experience they want to create.

Vertus Narcos'is is not one of them.

The first time I smelled it, my reaction was closer to confusion than instant love. It was green, sweet, fruity, strangely creamy, slightly bitter, and somewhere in the background there was this unexpected coffee-like darkness.

Then came rhubarb.

Then mango.

Then something almost sparkling, like champagne poured over tropical fruit.

And somehow, instead of falling apart, all of these strange pieces began to make sense.

Narcos'is is the kind of fragrance that makes me stop trying to identify every individual note and simply enjoy how unusual it feels.

Released in 2017 and presented as a unisex fragrance, Vertus Narcos'is has developed a reputation for being bold, long lasting, and difficult to compare with anything else.

After wearing it properly, I understand why.

The Presentation Feels Serious Before You Even Spray It

Before talking about the fragrance itself, I have to mention the presentation because Vertus clearly wanted Narcos'is to feel luxurious.

The box makes a very good first impression.

It feels substantial, carefully finished, and almost gift ready. There is a leather-like texture that gives the packaging a more expensive appearance, and the small details create the feeling that someone actually thought about the experience of opening it.

The bottle creates a different reaction.

A Heavy Bottle With a More Aggressive Character

It is heavy, solid, and quite blocky.

Personally, I find the bottle less elegant than the box. The sharp lines and thick construction make it feel a little rougher visually.

There are still some nice touches, including the branded cap, metallic details, and magnetic closure.

But for me, the fragrance itself is much more interesting than the bottle.

And once Narcos'is reaches the skin, the packaging becomes almost irrelevant.

What Does Vertus Narcos'isSmell Like?

This is where things become much more interesting.

Narcos'is smells green, fruity, sweet, tropical, aromatic, and surprisingly rich.

On paper, that combination sounds chaotic.

On skin, it becomes strangely addictive.

The first thing that grabs my attention is the sharp green character.

Rhubarb Gives Narcos'is Its Personality

Rhubarb is one of the most recognizable parts of the fragrance for me.

It has that tart, almost sour green quality that keeps the sweeter notes from becoming too comfortable.

Without it, Narcos'is could easily become just another sweet fruity fragrance.

Instead, the rhubarb gives the composition tension.

There is something almost electric about it.

It cuts through the sweetness and makes the fragrance feel alive.

Mango, Mandarin and a Tropical Sweetness

Fruit is another important part of Narcos'is.

Mango is noticeable, but I would not describe this as a pure mango perfume.

It feels more like mango has been blended into a larger cocktail of fruits, green notes, spices, and amber.

Mandarin adds a brighter citrus feeling, helping the opening feel more energetic.

At certain moments I even get something that reminds me of champagne.

It is sparkling, slightly sweet, fruity, and celebratory.

That impression does not last forever, but it gives the opening a playful character.

Coffee Is There, But It Doesn't Take Over

When people see coffee in a fragrance description, they may expect something dark, roasted, or gourmand.

Narcos'is does not really go in that direction.

The coffee feels more like a background shadow.

It adds depth rather than becoming the main attraction.

I can notice it behind the brighter fruit and green notes, creating a slightly darker contrast.

That contrast is important because there is already a lot of sweetness happening here.

Coffee gives the composition another layer without making Narcos'is smell like a coffee shop.

Cardamom and Ginger Add Warmth

There is also a spicy quality running through the fragrance.

Cardamom and ginger give the composition some warmth and movement.

They never become aggressively spicy.

Instead, they help connect the fruity opening with the richer amber-like base.

This is where Narcos'is begins to feel more full-bodied.

The bright green opening slowly becomes rounder, sweeter, and warmer.

The Cannabis Note Is More Subtle Than You Might Expect

Cannabis is probably one of the notes that immediately attracts attention when people read about Narcos'is.

But I would not call this a cannabis-dominated fragrance.

For me, it appears occasionally rather than controlling the entire composition.

There are moments when I notice a slightly herbal, green quality that could easily be connected with cannabis.

Then it disappears again into the rest of the fragrance.

It makes Narcos'is more interesting, but it does not turn the perfume into something aggressively herbal or smoky.

Narcos'is Is Sweet, But Not Simple

What I like most about this fragrance is that the sweetness never feels completely predictable.

There is peach, fruit, amber, and plenty of richness, but the green and tart elements constantly interfere with the sweeter side.

That makes Narcos'is feel much more dimensional.

One moment it feels tropical.

Another moment it feels green.

Then creamy.

Then slightly bitter.

Then warm and amber-like.

It keeps shifting.

That is probably the reason I never find it boring.

Performance Is One of Its Biggest Strengths

Narcos'is performs extremely well on my skin.

I get around eight hours of noticeable wear, and the fragrance creates a strong scent trail.

This is not something that quietly disappears after two hours.

It stays around you.

Be Careful With the Sprays

That strength can also become the fragrance's biggest problem.

I used to wear more of it.

Now I prefer a lighter application.

Too many sprays can become exhausting because Narcos'is remains noticeable for so long.

When a fragrance has this much sweetness, fruit, green intensity, and richness, constantly smelling it for hours can become overwhelming.

For me, fewer sprays actually make the experience better.

You still get the personality and performance without feeling trapped inside the fragrance.

Is Vertus Narcos'is Really Unisex?

Narcos'is is officially presented as unisex, and I can understand why.

There is nothing here that automatically belongs to only one gender.

Still, the combination of sweet fruit, mango, peach, sparkling brightness, and rich amber may feel more naturally appealing to some women.

Men who enjoy sweeter, tropical, expressive niche fragrances could absolutely wear it too.

This is not really a fragrance I would divide strictly into masculine or feminine categories.

It is more useful to ask whether you enjoy bold sweetness, unusual green notes, and fragrances that get noticed.

If the answer is yes, Narcos'is deserves your attention.

Who Should Try Narcos'is?

I would recommend testing Narcos'is if you enjoy fragrances built around unusual contrasts.

Especially if you like:

rhubarb, mango, sweet fruit, coffee, green notes, cardamom, amber, peach, and unusual aromatic combinations.

This is not something I would blind buy purely because one particular note sounds attractive.

The fragrance is too unusual for that.

The mango does not behave like a simple tropical mango.

The coffee is not a classic gourmand coffee.

The cannabis is not dominant.

Everything works together as one strange composition.

And that is exactly what makes it memorable.

Final Thoughts

Vertus Narcos'is is one of those fragrances that reminds me why niche perfumery can still be exciting.

It does not smell designed to please everyone.

It is strange, sweet, green, fruity, powerful, and slightly unpredictable.

The rhubarb gives it sharpness.

Mango and mandarin bring brightness.

Coffee adds depth.

Spices create warmth.

Amber and peach make everything richer.

And that occasional cannabis-like green accent gives the fragrance another unexpected twist.

The performance is excellent, although I strongly prefer wearing it with a lighter hand.

Narcos'is has enough power on its own. It does not need ten sprays to prove anything.

For me, the most attractive part is its personality.

There are many fragrances that smell good.

Far fewer make me stop and think, "What exactly am I smelling?"

Narcos'is does that.

And sometimes that sense of mystery is far more interesting than simple perfection.
